Terms & community rules

Beta draft: operator details are being finalised and this text is pending legal review.
Zhat is provided by [Operator legal name], [Registered address] (registry code [Company registry code]). Contact: hello@zhat.chat. By creating a passkey you confirm you're at least 18 and agree to these terms.
Community rules
Zhat works because the people around you are real and decent to each other. Don't post:
- threats, harassment or bullying, or anything aimed at hurting a person or group;
- hate speech, or content that sexualises anyone — anything involving minors is reported to the authorities;
- other people's private information, such as addresses, phone numbers, plates, schools or workplaces;
- illegal goods or services, scams, spam, or advertising in chat (businesses can use business posts instead);
- explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or encouragement of self-harm.
How moderation works
- Every message, photo, event name and business post is screened automatically before anyone sees it. If something is held back, you're told why.
- After three held-back messages in a room, you're muted there for an hour.
- Anyone can report a message or a business post. Reports are reviewed by a person.
- We can suspend a passkey from posting for a period if it breaks these rules, and we'll tell you why.
Reporting illegal content and appeals
Use the report button on any message or post, or write to hello@zhat.chat with what you saw, where, and why you think it's illegal. If we restricted something of yours and you think we got it wrong, reply to that email address with your Zhat ID and we'll review the decision. This is also our single point of contact for authorities and users under the EU Digital Services Act.
The service
- Zhat is free for people and provided as is, without guarantees of availability.
- Messages are temporary by design. Don't rely on Zhat to keep anything.
- You're responsible for what you post. You keep any rights you have in it.
- We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version.
